School Feeding Program Reaches 50,000 Students

The School Feeding Program has reached a significant milestone, now serving over 50,000 students across 25 districts in Tigray. This program ensures that children receive at least one nutritious meal per day, which has been shown to improve attendance rates and academic performance.

Program highlights:

  • Daily meals served to 50,000+ students
  • 96% attendance rate in participating schools
  • Less than 1% dropout rate
  • Community involvement in meal preparation
  • Local sourcing of ingredients when possible
  • Nutritional education for students and parents

"The school feeding program has transformed our school," said Principal Alemayehu. "Children are more focused, attendance is up, and parents are more engaged in their children's education."

The program is supported by community volunteers and local committees who help prepare and serve meals, creating a sense of ownership and sustainability.
